The completion of the Aphrodite IOI - here, the interior fitting before the "wedding". That"s the word used to describe the joining of the hull and the deck. For the IOI, the entire interior fitting is completed before this can take place, and all installations are fitted.

Only then will the deck, which is also fully mounted with all hardware, lowered down onto the hull and the two are joined "together for ever" by the aluminium toe-rail bar.

Finally, the deck coverings are mounted, the keel is bolted on and another new IOI is ready for delivery.

One way of renewing the outer shell of a yacht is to apply lacquer. Another option is to apply a new gel coat in several layers, which are then polished to a high shine in different sanding processes. The result - a mirror-smooth surface, shining and even better than new, with all the advantages of a gel coat surface.

In our boat yard, we are applying just this process on a 30 year old star boat:
